Welcome to School OT and Beyond. As a pediatric occupational therapist who has worked primarily in school systems, I see the potential to improve support, understanding, and collaboration for parents, educators, and others who serve kids during their early school years.

There is so much valuable information to be shared between therapists, parents, teachers, and community providers in the name of supporting the healthy development and school participation of our young children. Early childhood is a period of rapid growth, and what we do with our kids in those early years has a big influence on them later on.

Promoting successful participation in childhood activities and enhancing co-regulation and co-occupation (doing activities together) between parents and children is the way forward. Empowering parents and caregivers, sharing knowledge, and collaborating with school teams, families, and community practitioners is the way forward.
