Your child has had a LONG day, as have you! Use the after school hours to engage in healthy routines that support connection, play, relaxation, & healthy mealtime & bedtime routines - for your kids & for yourselves as parents. Being well-rested and refreshed will ensure that your child is at their best for returning to school tomorrow for another big day of learning!

Get your child outside to play or walk if possible, even if it’s cold. A simple walk down the street or sitting outside on your property will help your child’s body to be regulated after being in school all day.
Limit the amount of digital screen time for your child after school, and especially before bedtime. Try to remove availability of screen devices at least 2 hours before bedtime to allow your child’s nervous system and natural sleep cycle ability to do its best work.
Encourage mealtimes that are with another person, seated with the child. Remove TV, phones, Ipads, and other screens while eating to reduce the chances of “mindless eating” and missed chances for personal connection with family members or caregivers.
Be KIND to YOURSELF! Parenting is both tough & rewarding. When all else fails, share “downtime” with your preschooler through rest and play. They will capture your energy and model your love for yourself!
